Just A Small Town Boy

A single mattress lay on the floor of the living room. Bars of afternoon light shone through the wooden shutters and onto our bodies. With smiles plastered to our faces, thoughts seeped into the air without fear of being judged or looked down upon. I don’t know what possessed me to open up the way I did, but perhaps the 100km distance that would frequently be between us helped assure that nothing I said would leave that house in that unfamiliar area in the northern suburbs.
